How do I get to you from the airport using public transport? (please also give your address).

As the airport is really far away from the center of town, the best way is to take a cab - if there are a few passengers together and you don’t have much luggage (the taxi is around 5500 HUF/car) or the airport minibus (door-to-door) service. It is more expensive than the taxi: 2100 HUF/person!!
The other way: the public transport - Note it will take time (approx 50 mins) to get into the city!
At the airport, you have to ask the information staff where to catch the bus that goes to the metro station (this bus normally has a "BKV+" sign).
It will take you to the “Kobánya-Kispest” metro station, the end of the blue line - so you can't go in the wrong direction, as there is only one direction from there (don't worry about the metro either, as in Budapest there are only 3 lines, so it is not complicated!).

MMC Hostel is an independent backpacker place! Though if you reserve well in advance (through our website) everybody gets a discounted price! :)

The minimum number of group is at least 15 persons. As mentioned earlier, in case of advance reservation, we give discount! :)

Please let me know what information you need to complete the booking. Do we have to pay the hostel a deposit now? It would be easier for us to pay on arrival. If we have to pay in advance now, What percentage of the whole amount will it be?

In order to make a fixed reservation, we need credit card details (including name, card number, expiry date and CVV code - the three digit number on the back of your card, near the magnetic band). If you prefer not to e-mail these details, you can fax them to us on +36 1 411 14 94 or even ring us on +36 1 411 13 10. The credit card details only serve as a kind of guarantee, we don't charge anything in advance ! When it's not a group booking, we ask our guests to pay cash, at the reception desk, in Hungarian Forints if possible.

What is all this 'cancellation policy stuff”? Just tell me, are you going to charge me if I have to cancel?

Only if you don't give us 24 hours warning, by email or fax. Our cancellation policy is that you can cancel your reservation 24 hours before your planned arrival without any charge; if you cancel later than that, or you don't cancel at all, but also don't show up on the day, then we reserve the right to charge the card with the amount of the first night. We know that plans often change, we just ask you to let us know if you can't come.

After I emailed you guys, you replied with an “offer”. Until what date must I confirm this?

We recommend that you confirm your reservation early in order to avoid disappointment, especially for busy periods, such as New Year, Easter, Summer time!
As soon as we receive the details required for the reservation, we'll send you a confirmation mail (within 24 hours!) with all the details regarding your reservation!

That's because it's not a booking form. The purpose of the form on our website is to send us requests- enquiries, that's not a fixed reservation! We let you know if we have the requested room(s) available or not, some more information about MMC Hostel and the next steps to take in case you decide to stay with us. Until you receive an email from us, headed “confirmation” then it's not a fixed booking.

Can I buy a 3 day pass for all the public transport in the city? Is there is a bus-tour we can take to see the city in a short time?

The 48- or 72-hour Budapest Card is available at our reception! This card allows free public transport within Budapest, free entry or discounts to museums, thermal baths, pubs, restaurants…etc. We also have calling and phone cards! J
We also offer different tours to get to know the city (On foot, by bicycle, boat, bus..), cultural, sporty programs (CAVING!!!!)

Which is the best street for discos, pubs, restaurants, etc.? Is it near the hostel? Also what sites would you recommend i.e. pubs and clubs, for relaxation i.e Spa or massage (mainly recovering from hangovers!)

We are located in the heart of the city - next to Váci utca (with famous café's, bars, restaurants - most of them are rather touristy……but we also can recommend other places, restaurants, with reasonable prices and quality service! :)
As we are in the center of the center - practically almost everything is close! :) Though, if you wanna get to know Hungarian life, choose the places we recommend! :)

Is the hotel near most attractions in Budapest?

Lots of “touristy” spots are close to us (Castle district, Parliament, Synagogue, Váci utca, Basilica…etc) but as in every city, not all the famous places are close to each other. But we have excellent public transport facilities, so you can reach any part of the city easily! :)

Hello! We are interested in your accommodation, but would like to know if the rooms have private bathrooms or shared facilities?

There are private bathrooms in our twin rooms (but there are only a few of these, so we advise you to book ahead. In the case of our dormitory rooms, you will find two large bathrooms - male and female - at the end of the corridors on each floor. All of our 4, 6 and 8 bedded dormitory rooms have controllable air conditioning, bunk beds, and spacious individual lockers.

Do we need to bring sleeping bags, towels etc? Are bed sheets included?

Yes, our prices include bed sheets, so you don't need to bring a sleeping bag!

Is there any kind of age limit in your hostel? Is it suitable for travellers over 50?

There is no age restriction in our hostel but please don't forget that it is a backpackers place, with a fun party atmosphere! If peace and quiet is important to you, we suggest booking our twin rooms, and on any of the lower floors, away from the bar on the 5th floor.

We do all our best to reserve the rooms according to your request, though it is not always possible, unfortunately. We cannot reserve two twin rooms side-by-side, as we only have one twin room on each floor!

Yes! That's one of the good things about dormitories! You share the room (except twin rooms) with other travelers from all around the world! That gives you the opportunity to meet people and then go up the bar, or out into the city and to have fun!! :)
